The Real Problem with Stress

The Real Problem With Stress

It’s amazing to think just how much we downplay stress. We use it as an excuse for everything these days, which is the real problem. What many don’t understand is that stress has detrimental effects to our mind and body, but we undermine these effects and just brush them off as if they are normal. We don’t really try to fix the problem and just try to brush it under the rug. And even though modern medicine can fix the symptoms of stress, it doesn’t actually address the cause of it, which leads to a vicious cycle.

We need to instead understand the mechanisms and causes of stress than just relying on modern medicine giving us some prescription for it.

Stress is a powerful word that’s derived from physics. In this scenario, it’s the maximum amount of weight or force a material can stand before it starts to give in and break. So when we are stressed, it turns out we’re broken and how can we go on with life if we are broken? This is why we need to find the root of stress in our lives rather than just fix it with meds.

Stress today is something totally different than our early ancestors, who used their fight/flight for food or for survival. Today, stress is caused by a myriad of things like work, money, relationships, media, sickness, family and so much more. When your body is stressed, a bunch of hormonal and chemical reactions are happening inside your body. When you’re stressed your body will shut down all non-essential systems to survive. Your reproductive system will slow down or stop its testosterone and estrogen production, thus impacting your fertility. Your digestive system will stop functioning, meaning making you evacuate your bladder or bowels. Your blood supply will be compromised, thus impacting essential organs and restricting them of nutrients, causing illnesses. You’ll have trouble sleeping and this will make your body lose its ability to restore and repair at night.

Long-term stress is harmful to your body and life, which is why stress needs to be taken more seriously and not just padded with a prescription. In order to find the root of stress, hypnotherapy can help you recover with stress or help you learn how to deal with it better!

“Mental health awareness doesn’t mean fighting stress, anxiety, depression and other everyday mental health issues, rather it means consciously modulating the habits that intensify those issues. Once you are in control of your habits, instead of checking your habits, you would automatically be in a much better shape, both mentally and physically. ”
