Why Hypnotherapy for Sports Performance?

“I’m in the zone” How often do you hear that phrase from sportspeople/athletes? What does it mean though?

The zone is a highly focused state where nothing else exists other than your singular goal. The 100m sprinter would see the finishing line and nothing else. No other thought is going through their mind other than being first over the finishing line. They can’t hear the crowd of 80000 people, they can’t see what else is going on in the stadium/on the track. They’re not aware of the temperature outside of their body. It’s just them, the finish, the zone.

In order to achieve your sporting goals, you need ‘the zone’ level of focus. If you are distracted then you’re not completely focused so your chances of reaching your goals/targets will decrease and your competitors will have the edge. Much research suggests that mental abilities in sports are of greater importance than physical abilities. So many times you hear of an athlete’s dip in form yet they are in peak physical fitness, so the dip in form comes from negative beliefs or distracting thoughts in the mind impeding on physical function.

Using hypnosis for sporting performance can mean the difference between winning and losing. Hypnosis can give you the mental edge you need to win by bringing you back into the zone by focusing your mind and allowing you to put aside distractions so winning is your only option!

Tiger Woods is an excellent example of an incredible athlete who has used hypnosis in the past to achieve a phenomenal level of success in golf. He has reportedly been utilizing powerful self-hypnosis techniques since his early teens. Not only has he used it to visualize every swing and stroke in his mind before carefully executing it on the course, but he also uses it to “get in the zone”.

Another way that hypnosis can help sportspeople and athletes is in dealing with pain and injuries. Techniques can be taught that allow minor pain to be put aside for the goal of winning. Relaxation methods can also be particularly helpful when it comes to managing pain which is a part of most sports. Hypnosis can also help athletes recover more quickly from a sports injury and much research supports the use of hypnosis to speed up the recovery time from injury. By accelerating the recovery time the athlete can return to practice and competition more quickly, which can be very important for athletes competing at the highest levels.

Hypnosis can help pre, during and post-competition and if top athletes are using it then you can too!

What our clients say

Testimonials

For years I’ve suffered with excess sweating when in any situation where the focus is on me or I’m nervous, like giving a presentation or being around new people. This was really affecting my job as my job involved a lot of presentations and meeting new people! My mum has had hypnosis before so I thought I would give it a try. I don’t know how Paul did it but after one session I felt more confident and was able to lead a normal life without excess sweating, he even stuck my hand to my leg which I thought was brilliant!

I’ve suffered total hair loss through alopecia, I’ve had no more than three hairs on my body at one point since it began three years ago . . .
Paul had hair growing back on my head and face within 2 days of our first session… Three sessions and four weeks later. I’ve got at least a hundred fine white hairs on my head and around 30 scattered elsewhere. It seems to be growing again . .
I also feel STRONGER and BETTER . . . I can never thank Paul enough

Hi Paul, I hope you’re keeping well. I just wanted to get in touch to let you know that following on from the successes during your alopecia hypnotherapy trial, my hair continued to grow and has now fully recovered. For the first time in 11 years I have my curls back and I look like me again! My wigs are back in their box and I honestly can’t thank you enough for setting me on the path to getting all of this fixed. All the best.

After nearly thirty years of experiencing very bad panic attacks when driving or travelling anywhere out of my comfort zone. A friend suggested I contact Paul and see if there was anything that he could possibly do to help.
Amazingly after just two sessions of treatment, being a combination of hypnosis and tapping techniques, I have been able to drive much further distances than I ever imagined possible. It has in many ways been life changing and I now realise how debilitating my anxiety has been.
Thank you Paul for all your help
