Psychotherapy at the
Heart of Treatment
I’m Paul Gibson, a psychotherapist specialising in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and the preparation and integration work that surrounds it. My role is to help people understand how KAP works, what the process involves and how psychotherapy can help turn the experience into meaningful, lasting change.
All medical assessment, prescribing and ketamine treatment are provided through The Emerge Clinic, where psychotherapy and medical care are brought together within one structured treatment programme.
What is Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy?
KAP combines medically administered ketamine with structured psychotherapy.
Ketamine can create a shift in perspective and reduce rigid patterns, helping you access new insights.
Preparation, supported sessions, and integration work help you make sense of the experience.
When combined with therapy, the experience can support meaningful, lasting change.
Why Combine Ketamine and Psychotherapy?
We work together beforehand to understand your goals, history and intentions, helping you feel informed and ready.
During ketamine sessions, you are supported in a medically supervised setting while we help you explore and make sense of your inner experience.
Afterwards, we make sense of what surfaced and translate insights into practical, sustainable change.
Who may consider KAP?
KAP may be considered when other treatments haven’t brought enough relief. Suitability is individual and KAP is not appropriate for everyone.
All treatment suitability is assessed individually at The Emerge Clinic.

Your Questions, Answered
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) combines medically administered ketamine with structured psychotherapy, including preparation beforehand and integration work afterwards.
Ketamine treatment alone typically focuses on the medicine’s pharmacological effects. KAP adds structured preparation, therapeutic support during sessions and integration work afterwards, aiming for more meaningful and lasting change.
Ketamine is licensed in the UK as an anaesthetic. Its use for mental health conditions is off-label and is only considered following appropriate medical and psychological assessment.
Ketamine is administered in a medically supervised setting. You are safely supported throughout, with a therapist present to help you explore the experience.
No. Suitability is assessed individually through a full medical and psychological assessment at The Emerge Clinic. KAP is not appropriate for everyone.
All medical assessment, ketamine treatment and ongoing care are provided through our partner clinic, The Emerge Clinic.
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is not just about symptom relief. At its best, it can open a therapeutic window in which meaningful emotional and psychological change becomes more possible.
